Even though I had wanted this for years, it was still scary to take the final step. However, when the stars aligned, I realized the only thing that could hold me back now was myself – I jumped all in and haven’t looked back since!
It was all finally coming together – this was my chance! After years of dreaming about becoming a REALTOR®, it was time to take the leap and make it a reality. But my heart sank as I realized my work schedule didn’t match the course dates. When I commit to something, I never back out. I talked with my office manager, and she quickly found someone to cover my shift. God’s timing was perfect! This is what I was meant to do. Nothing was holding me back.
Growing up, I didn’t even realize that full-time real estate was a career option. I just knew that I wanted to
make a difference and make a good life for myself and my family. I decided to pursue a career as a dental hygienist. I enjoyed working with people, educating them and creating relationships while still having the time and flexibility to be home with my daughter, Grace, and homeschool her.
I was extremely grateful for my career as a dental hygienist, but I have also always had a passion for real estate. Though I didn’t have a license, I always joked that I was a REALTOR®. If someone wanted to move or was looking for a home, I was on it! I would check the Sunday newspaper for new listings and drive around the neighborhood trying to find for-sale signs and grab an info sheet. I would even research school zones and different communities. It was exciting for me!
My daughter was often with me when I would drive around to find the perfect home for a friend. She
would sit in the back seat as we drove all across town. On one occasion, I was trying to find a home for a lovely couple I knew. They had been renting and were ready to take the next step and own a home. My daughter and I happened to go to their place, and I remember her shock when she said, “Mom, they have a home!” She thought my hard work was the result of an urgent situation, but it wasn’t. I just loved house hunting and helping people.
My great grandfather was a developer in Sanford, Florida, and my parents owned many rental properties. Growing up in this environment demonstrated to me the value of real estate and the positive impact it can have on families and generational wealth. It has always been in my blood to be involved in real estate. Despite my passion for real estate, I was hesitant to officially become a REALTOR®. I knew once I was licensed, I wouldn’t be half-hearted; it was all or nothing. I wanted the timing to be right.
When my office manager found someone to cover my shift, nothing else was holding me back. My daughter was nearly done with high school and was about to start her own journey. It was time to follow my passion. In 2019, I received my REALTORS® license and started my official real estate career. It was the most exciting experience to finally be in the industry and offer professional services to the very people I have been helping for years!
My years of unofficial experience have proven valuable to my clients as I have a great knowledge of the local market. There have been some lessons I have had to learn through this process. You should always follow your passion and not let anything hold you back! I am endlessly grateful and blessed to have this opportunity to help so many people in my community and continue doing so for years to come. In my free time, my husband and I love Florida Gator sports and being involved with our church.
My favorite part about being a REALTOR® is the connections I make with my clients. I love being able to help them find their perfect home and community that fits their needs and lifestyle. It is still just as exciting as when I first started casually helping family and friends. Like solving a puzzle, I take every piece into consideration until we find the perfect solution for your unique situation.
Whether buying or selling, my top priority is ensuring my clients are well taken care of during and after the transaction. That includes coordinating the transaction, strategic marketing, conducting negotiations, serving as my client’s advocate, and offering a trusted list of contacts to assist with the transition. When you work with me, I am committed to serving as your lifelong REALTOR®, answering all of your questions and providing support for all of your real estate needs.
Sincerely,
Chrissy Severance
